The American University of Antigua

AUA students will soon pursue their dreams of becoming medical doctors, nurses and veterinarians in this incredible new 17-acre, $60 million dollar facility - the most modern campus in the Caribbean. In January 2010, AUA will open the doors to this stunning new campus. The facility will house over 75,000 square feet of wi-fi classrooms, a multi-story library, a fully equipped learning center, study rooms, student government, and administrative and faculty offices -- all footsteps from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Though impressive in size and stature, our commitment to providing small, nurturing class sizes for optimum learning enhancement will still be in place at the new campus. AUA will keep its pledge to have no more than 120 students seated per classroom - students will not just be another number. The Most Modern Learning and Recreational Amenities
The library will contain over 5,000 pieces of biomedical information, reading materials, audio-visual aids, computerized instructional materials and advanced technological resources, and wireless internet access. In addition, there will be a large retractable covered amphitheater that will hold 400 seats for guest speakers, seminars, ceremonies and live entertainment. To date, the University has completed construction on its first four buildings (Quads), comprising of a total of 16,000 square feet of classrooms, labs and faculty offices. Currently, the quads are being occupied by second and fourth semester students and their faculty. Student housing, which will come later, will be part of the new campus as well, with beautiful residence halls for all students entering their first two semesters. For recreational purposes, there will be a cricket field, soccer field, running track, baseball field, tennis court and a full gym with a snack and juice bar.

It is estimated that over 350 local workers are employed during this construction phase. In addition, AUA has employed additional members of the surrounding community to provide a variety of services including transportation and consumer services. AUA is grateful to the government and people of Antigua and Barbuda for extending the invitation to work together to make Antigua the preeminent provider of medical services in the Caribbean.
